When Twitter came out with their new design for the profile pages last year, I was super excited! I truly loved the changes and got so inspired that I decided to create a whole bunch of free header images in various colors.

This week Twitter announced that they were coming out with a new design for the profiles.
They decided to use the Today Show to break the news on Tuesday morning with CEO Dick Costolo.
(Video about it is at the end of this post.)
In this day and age with all of the cool graphics’ softwares, why would we want to use an online image editor? The fact is that sometimes we don’t have to do really complicated things to an image. Using online image editors can greatly diminish the time that it takes to get certain tasks done.
They can be much faster than Photoshop or Gimp. This is why, despite having both of these softwares on my hard drive, I still use online image editors. They make my life easier. Yes there are hundreds of them out there, but I’ll only list the ones that are actually worth taking the time to learn. Read on for details on each site:

I’ve heard many people talk about doing a 5 minute WordPress installation and that it’s just so easy ~ bla bla bla. Yes, once you’ve installed WordPress several times you may even do it in 5 minutes after you’ve pointed the DNS in your domain registrar to your hosting account. However, having a website properly set up is not just about going into Cpanel and installing a WordPress blog. You need to configure and upload certain files such as your robots.txt file and an .htaccess file to the root folder (usually located at public_html). What I’m trying to convey here is that setting up a blog correctly is not as fast and simple as some people like to tell you it is.
So we all know that a whole bunch of Yahoo emails got hacked. If you were one of those who had their email hacked, you know just how stressful that can be. If you don’t know if your email was affected or not, simply go to this link and type in your email addresses to find out. There have even been emails from Gmail and other servers that were hacked through them gaining access to the Yahoo databases. So even if you don’t have a Yahoo account, I still recommend typing in all of your email addresses in there. Especially if a lot of your social profiles and forums are tied to your accounts.
Hopefully you had set the password recovery correctly in place so that you could easily recover your account.
There have been several Google updates to their search engine algorithm that have happened over the course of the years. When we compare them we see that the Penguin update has been one of those that has caused a really big impact on a large quantity of sites and changed the way webmasters perceive search in general.
Many SEOs were left scratching their heads wondering what in the world happened. And it isn’t an easy puzzle to figure out either → unless you have the data.
I’ve seen a lot of bloggers regurgitating their wild hypotheses of what happened when sites got hit and what to do to fix the problems. As usual Google picked a cuddly black and white animal to name an update and all we see in the blogosphere is Penguin this and Penguin that…

I’ve found an easy way to create FTP access to add on domains where it doesn’t take as long.
The reason why you want FTP access to all of your websites is to easily be able to create folders, change things in the design such as the css and php files and also download backups of the files in case you make a mistake. It’s true that you’re able to make changes in the backend of WordPress, however you won’t be able to download copies and create folders without FTP access.

There are many places in this world wide web that you can find free images to use. The biggest problem is that many times these free picture websites make it difficult for us to figure out which are actually free images for commercial use and which ones aren’t. The worst thing is for you to find an image and then click the license and see a humongous piece of text for you to read and digest… errr ~ no thanks! I have things to do and I can’t stop and spend 30 minutes trying to understand these terms only to find out that I truly can’t use the image that I want on my websites and blogs.
Other times we click and find out that the free image is actually paid for. It’s amazing how many image sites don’t make it easy for you to only search in the free for commercial use portion of the site. All they would have to do is filter out the ones that aren’t but they choose not to do that.. making our lives more difficult. I have also found free images that are just too ugly to use so I’ll save you some trouble and won’t list the sites that provide these butt ugly images

If you’ve ever stared at a blank screen wondering what to write about next for your website, then you’ll love the infographic I found. Even if you’re an avid writer, when it comes to website content creation there are always those moments when we find ourselves not feeling the inspiration and the flow. When this happens what should we do? I find that forcing our writing is never the best option. I’ve written articles out of obligation and it felt like emotional childbirth.

Everytime I set up a blog, one of the first things I do is go into the backend of WordPress and copy and paste a list of places that I want it to ping. By doing this, everytime I publish a new blog post, WordPress will automatically be notifying the search engine spiders (robots) that I have posted new content and therefore they should get their robot butts over here and index me
